How the notice deadline is calculated
Notice deadline = end of the current term − notice period. A contract that ends on 31 December with 60 days' notice must be cancelled by 1 November. If the contract renews automatically and the end date has already passed, the calculator rolls it forward by the renewal term to find the next end date.

Why auto-renewals cost money
Many software, services and maintenance contracts renew automatically for a full year unless you cancel in writing 30 to 90 days before the end date. If nobody owns the date, the contract renews by default, often with a price increase, for licences or services you may no longer need. Tracking notice deadlines is the simplest way to keep that leverage.
A simple renewal process
- 120 days before notice: list upcoming renewals, owners and usage.
- 90 days: decide renew, renegotiate or replace; request competing quotes.
- 60 days: negotiate price, term and exit terms; remove unused licences.
- 30 days: send written notice if you are not renewing, and get confirmation.
- After renewal: record the new end date and notice deadline straight away.

Is my contract data uploaded?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and saves your list only in this browser on this device. Use “Download CSV” to keep a copy.
Does the notice period count business days or calendar days?
This tool uses calendar days, which most contracts use. If yours says business days, enter a slightly longer notice period to be safe.
What if the contract has no fixed end date?
For rolling month-to-month agreements, enter the next billing date as the end date, a 1-month renewal term and the notice period.
How do I add the deadlines to Outlook or Google Calendar?
Click “Add deadlines to my calendar”. It downloads an .ics file with each notice deadline and a reminder 14 days before; open it or import it into your calendar.
